Battle of the Bulbs Opening Ceremony Recap

It’s that time of year again... Battle of the Bulbs, GCI’s annual month-long energy saving competition, kicked off last night in Hutch Commons! Although the rain kept us inside and our s’mores untoasted, the BotB opening ceremony was a success, complete with pizza, music (check out our playlist below), t-shirt sales and plenty of energy saving tips. If you missed it, do not fear! We will be celebrating BotB all month long with more events and of course keeping tabs on the dorms with the most energy savings. Don’t live in a dorm? It’s still important to conserve energy no matter where you live, so turn off those lights, unplug your computer and collect the savings!

In addition to last night’s kick-off, this year’s competition is literally going online and will feature real-time, smart-metered results that you can check with the help of Cisco and PulseEnergy. Just bookmark the dashboard here: BotB Dormitory Dashboard. May the dimmest dorm win!

Of course, we will also be sending updates on this blog and over the GCI listhost, so be sure to keep tabs on the RSS feed or sign up for emails if you want to be kept in the loop. And if you want to get more involved, be sure to drop by a GCI meeting on Wednesday or Thursday this week. There is plenty to do, and we could use your help!

And as always, do it in the dark!

Until next time,
Marie
